Lovely bright mild morning for our first Wednesday ride of 2024; eight of us met at North Cheam. We were surprised to find we were making our way against quite a headwind, but arrived at Cobham just as the final B group was departing, to find Bill waiting for us, plus lovely chocolate cake in honour of our chairman's birthday, what a treat!
We agreed to head for the Woodman at Lower Ashtead for lunch. Just as we were leaving Ray W arrived, but he could not join us as his electric bike had run out of power.
We took quite a direct route to our destinaton via Stoke d'Abernon, turning left into Woodlands Road at Squires, following the signs for Queen Elizabeth Foundation, then left at the Cleeve Road traffic lights, crossing the railway bridge at the end and following the main road into lower Ashtead.
We had a bit of a following wind, and there wasn't much traffic today, so it was a pleasant ride.
Staff at the Woodman gave us a warm welcome and we enjoyed our lunch together. Leaving Bill to catch his train, the rest of us headed home across Ashtead and Epsom Commons. No tea stop today. About 25 miles over the day.
