Cobham - Godalming - West Horsley
Wendy Jane received the bouquets from Terry on behalf of Thelma and Hazel
who unfortunately were not able to be present
In
a very busy Wetherspoons it was the usual very fast service. Replenished the
group used the A3100 all the way to Guildford City centre to pick up the A246
to Squires, West Horsley for tea. My
mileage from door to door was 77miles at 14mph ave, I was very happy with my
tail wind home.
A
Team
Before
leaving the Royal British Legion, Cobham, there was a photo call for
octogenarians, two of whom, Vic & Ray, were with the A team joining the
group of 16 for lunch at the Jack Phillips Wetherspoons in Godalming. Tacking
our way round some ominous looking clouds it was a familiar route via Plough Lane, where
we were clapped through by a re-assembling B group, through Ockham, Hungry
Hill, Burnt Common and the very noisy A3 cycle path to Clay Lane.
Crossing
the A320 into Salt Box Road along Perry Lane and left into Holly Lane, still
with a head wind it was along the A323 to Normandy, where left past Wanborough
Station up the pig of a climb to Puttenham. This
is where we re-grouped at the top under the A31 Hog’s Back.
If
any Midweekers were interested in breaking the straight out 25 mile British
record it is here on the A31 you start, travelling north east all the way along
the A3 to finish just before the Robin Hood roundabout near Richmond Park; the
only down side is you would have to beat 40 min. 50 sec! From Puttenham we
crossed over the A3 to descend past Charterhouse
School to Godalming.
Afternoon tea at West Horsley |
Note Mark Roy organized the impromptu photo call of a few
octogenarians; might I suggest at next month’s Cobham meet we ask all 80+ to
attend for a photo call of the full gallery.
