Dieppe…. A detour to the Somme

Dieppe…. A detour to the Somme On our way home from Dieppe, Ray and I called in at St Valery sur Somme where a preserved metre gauge steam train runs around the estuary to Le Crotoy on the other side. The area is popular with cyclists and has several marked routes leading from both towns. We took the train to Le Crotoy ( bikes are carried free in the “fourgon” or baggage van ) , had lunch and then rode a 10 mile circle to Les Bout des Crocs using one of the routes and returning via the lanes. Then we chased the afternoon train back to Noyelles and St Valery using the cycle track parallel to the D940, which is crossed twice by the train. For more information about cycling in the area see http://www.baiecyclette.com/En/default.php Brian Greenwood
