Well it stayed dry until Elevenses; after that it got noticeably damper! A dozen set off the "A" ride; no frills on a day like this so we headed through Addlestone (long delay at the level crossing), Ottershaw and past Fairoaks Airport. Sandpit Lane took us to Chobham then it was Bisley, Pirbright and eventually the Royal Oak at Wood Street Village before one.
On another day the service might have been regarded as tardy but nobody seemed keen for the restart. In the continuing and steady drizzle we returned via Guildford (where Terry's knee took a scrapping in an ill-filled trench near Jacob's Well), and then in improving conditions along the A3 to Ripley (where Paul punctured) and Ockham Bites (alfresco). To my disgust the roads were almost dry as I rolled into the Royal Borough – about 50 miles door to door.
