Twenty four super keen cyclists left the RBL Hall in Cobham, hot on the tail of the A Group - but we did not see them again - maybe because of all the bends in Plough Lane?!
Actually, we had a non-hurried ride to the Plough at Horsell! It must be the third time I have used this pub as a lunch venue, but, the folks behind the bar are extremely obliging, the food is served in good time, a pleasant garden to sit in and a good choice of ales!
Our route to Horsell was across Wisley airfield, entering via the bridle path, over the M3 to Lock Lane. Left at the junction, left again then right into Papercourt Lane which led us to Send Road. From here we cycled towards Woking and along a few quite back streets to Maybury. We got through the roadworks with out any hassle and we approached the pub along a short stretch of the canal and up through Horsell village.
Our return journey was very simple! We came through the lanes skirting Fairoakes airport , Longcross, Lyne, Almners Road into Gosmore Park Chertsey and Chertsey bridge to Shepperton Lock for a long relaxing afternoon tea -and even cakes!
I was very grateful to all the kind folks, my 'little helpers' who stopped on the corners to Marshall the latter end of the field making sure no one got lost and - of course - Mr Back marker! My thanks to all for another very enjoyable Wednesday! Pam :):)
