So fourteen of us set off in sunshine, and barely a breeze, to seek out the descents of the Surrey Hills. Through Ockham and West Horsley before the descent of Combe Lane into Shere. Little London, Farley Green and Winterfold Lane prepared us for the descent to Smithwood Common. Cranleigh and Ewhurst Green brought us to The Scarlett Arms in Walliswoood.
Here we found shade in the garden while we waited for the food to arrive. Before we left Geoff took a photo of us still hiding in the shade.
For the afternoon Simon was finally allowed to backmark as we headed for Weare Street, Capel and Rusper before turning north and rushing to Newdigate. Here Mark generously brought us all an ice cream and we spent more time sitting in the shade cooling off.
Now just Roothill and Punchbowl Lane to negotiate before tea at Pilgrim Cycles in Westhumble.
Thanks to each and every one for a great day out.
