Well Ray you had a lucky escape! I do think that CUK, the Police and all other authorities need to get the message across watch out for cyclists, don't do stupid things and give cyclists SPACE! Going home from Davids wake over Epsom Downs I was hit by a car's wing mirror hard on the elbow and miraculously NOT knocked ofF! The offending car is photoed below. I could not believe that I was swiped like I was. The driver gave me no clearance with traffic approaching him in the opposite direction on the on the Epsom Lane North. It was not however a hit and run as at first appeared a younger driver I feel would have simply carried on! The gentleman concerned and his wife pulled in to the left further on. I remonstrated with him as he got out of the car and he explained that he misjudged the gap cutting me too close. I calmed down and explained that motorists should not take risks like he had and just slow down if not certain of the space. We exchanged details and I took a picture of the rear of his very expensive Jaguar and number plate. I feel so lucky not to have come off, heaven knows what that might have entailed after my hit by the coach 2/9/17, still to be resolved. He had no problem with my visibility and lights. Again it reminds me that perhaps we should ride more defensively towards the center of the carriageway, I was close to the Curb but then that exacerbates the motorists so much.
