You are all invited on a ride from Egham to Taplow and back
to Ashford. It is, I believe, the first time the B’s have cycled from Egham and
we will meet at the day centre, which can be found by cycling down Manor Farm
Lane and taking the 1st left turning; the day centre is straight in front of
you.
We will be following one of Tony Hopkin’s routes that will,
I believe, be new to most of you. Our route out will be across the meads to Old
Windsor, Datchet, Dorney, Bray to Taplow. Lunch is at the Lake House Café.
After lunch we follow the Jubilee River for 4 and a bit miles, then Eton,
Windsor, Datchet, Horton, Stanwell and Ashford, where we stop for tea.
The route out is 16 miles and back is 15 miles. I have tried
to accommodate everyone’s requirements regarding trains with a good train
service from London to Egham and back from Ashford. The rides are made-up paths
or roads. The paths are gravel for 1.2 miles going and 4 miles back with the
occasional puddle.
