Wayfarers are likely to be aware of potential bike thefts from your home by undesirables following your Strava feeds. This latest American research takes this concern to a new level - by revealing how personal data, including home address, could be obtained by analysing aggregate data on Strava heatmaps. IT nerds may be interested in this rather academic study, but I doubt there's many British crooks getting their heads round it! For Strava users in our typical SW London locale, it's probably sufficient to disguise your start / finish points by upping your Privacy Controls, in My Profile, by hiding your address. (Do this by selecting a radius - available in eighth-of-a-mile increments, around your house, where your start / finish is hidden). By far the best security however is strong locks and fixed anchor points to secure your precious machines!
