A ride: 16th Sept - some odds and sods

Our ride from Walton on Wednesday will be a bit of a mixed bag.

The "odds" are many bits left over from my recces over the last three months to Albury and Guildford which I didn't manage to include on the previous rides and some bits of road we haven't ridden for a while. Also a visit to ( the not) Muddy Lane between Byfleet and Wisley now that the bridleway status is confirmed, the kissing gates removed, vegetation cut back and even a new sign.

The "sods" are not you, the riders, but although this ride isn't particularly hilly there are some short, sharp ramps to test the legs.

From Walton we go via Weybridge to Byfleet and Muddy Lane, then through the south side of Woking on quiet roads and the park to Sutton Green. We cut across the edge of Guildford to Tangier Road and Halfpenny Lane which leads to Chilworth and lunch at Wonersh. After lunch a detour up Thorncombe Street leads back to Run Common Road and then Farley Green, Hoe Lane, Friday Street and Westcott. Tea at Denbies.

22 miles to lunch and 23 on to tea.

The only off road is Muddy Lane and the Surrey Cycleway 22 from Westcott to Dorking - both hard surfaced. Thorncombe Street is a road but given the amount of sand and gravel in places your tyres may be off it.

Please see my previous post about the issues booking lunch and let me know as soon as possible whether you wish to come. The deadline is still Monday 7pm but it would help me judge the number of groups if you let me know earlier. Thanks.
