Sloe Bicycle

Maggie and I have been foraging again.  Autumn fruits, this time.  We have done well with damsons, that have produced some handsome jam, and today we got a good crop of sloes, which will make sloe gin for next Christmas.

Mark - I have some damson gin under way and soon some sloe gin. For the first time, this year I made some Seville Orange gin, very acceptable. I've been making Seville Orange wine for some time now. Our next door neighbour has two allotments and always seems to grow too many courgettes. I'm helping him out this year - I'm going to make courgette wine.

I’ll be interested to hear how the courgette wine works out, Terry. We’ve had a glut of courgettes again this year, and this may be a good use for them.

Courgette and basil soup is very good and avoids a long wait to an uncertain maturity.
