Report for Easy Riders - 9th November

On such a mild November day, it looked like everybody was prepared to enjoy themselves. Fifteen of us turned right from Hersham Day Centre along Queens Road to the roundabout where we turned off along West Grove. At the end we turned left into Hersham Road and left again into Station Road. At Walton Station we turned right into Ashley Park Road and followed that road into High Street, Walton then turned right into Church Street to make for the Day Centre. Soon after the Centre an elderly driver drove right across in front of us, wound the window down and calmly asked us where a certain road was. He just got a mouthful from me and no directions - idiot. We followed the roads round to Walton Bridge and went into Walton Lane and crossed over into Manygate Lane. From there we joined Gaston Bridge Road and soon after made our way along Halliford Road to Sunbury.

It now seems routine to turn left up Green Street and take the pedestrian/cycle route around Sunbury centre. At the end of Harfield Road, we joined Lower Sunbury Road and took Kempton "Road" to cross Upper Sunbury Road and into Oldfield Road. Further on we joined Station Road and, at the end of that the welcoming view of the Jolly Coopers, our lunch destination.

After lunch we turned North up to Hampton and through a gate to Bushy Park and meandered our way to Hampton Court Gate. Just before the bridge, part of the group decided to take the Barge Walk to Kingston and four of us trundled on through Thames Ditton.

Highlight of the day was admiring Sandy Bayliss's brand new Trek bike with straight handlebars - these ease steering through the rocky terrain that we often encounter.
