Norwesters Ride Wednesday the 5th

As usual when the B's ride is heading South, a Norwesters ride takes place, if theres a demand. Well 8 met at Chaii Coffee Ashford for the excursion North to the Rowen Garden Centre at Chalfont St Giles for lunch.

We took the cycle path around the West side of Heathrow, heading through West Drayton and up past Hillingdon Hospital, Uxbridge and into Denham country park and golf course, then stopping for a few photos outside the once house of Sir John Mills, the actor.

Sir John Mills old house, Denham

Denham is a tiny village but still has 3 pubs! Across the A412 and into Old Rectory lane and past Denham Golf club station and onto Old Slade Lane, we were soon upto Chalfont common and a right into Rickmansworth Lane to bring us to lunch at the Rowen Garden Centre, we sat outside in the Sun.

Lunch alfresco

An old cycling friend of mine had also cycled here to join us. Food was good and the service was reasonable. After lunch we headed up Gorelands lane and onto the B4442 passing the entrance to the Captain Cook monument and down into the little village of Chalfont St Giles. Now heading South passing the outskirts of Chalfont St Peter and down through Gerrads Cross, across A40 and into Fulmer road. Crossing the Watersplash by footbridge, apart from Arwyn, who cycled through.

Past Pinewood Studios, where Sir John Mills did lots of his films and past Bond close which is dead opposite the old entrance to Pinewood Studios where a lot of the Bond films were made. We were soon through Colnbrook and Poyle and at tea back at Chaii Coffee Ashford, ony 6 stopped for tea.

We had some slight showers in the mornin and warmer temperstures in the Afternoon, a lovely days cycling, thank you to Arwyn, Ann B, Pam, Gill, Grant, Geoff and Pete B for your company.

Tony..
