Invitation to A Group ride Weybridge Blacknest 22nd June 2022

Next Wednesday the summer experience of longer rides continues. We range into East Hampshire, below Church Crookham we ride quiet country lanes with great landscape views of the North Hampshire Downs. At the end of this section is the village of Bentley with a few places of interest.

We cross the A31, the landscapes changes, after a few more miles  we lunch at the Jolly Farmer Blacknest. See the sandwich menu. ( I am not arranging advance orders).

We continue round the south boundary of Alice Holt Forest, the bedrock changes again to sandstone which you can see where the road cuts into it, so we have grassland and heathland, through on to Frensham ponds, then to Guildford.

Our route from Weybridge to Guildford is 54 miles, here you can get the train back to Surbiton / Clapham etc, or all stops including Stoke D'A. Some of us will want to save our legs for Dieppe.  Or you can ride on to Esher - 69 miles.

This link is to a google drive folder with info including the course in gpx format and train timetables. Trains staff are on strike on Tuesday, so the service on Weds will be a bit disrupted, but the trains are frequent so we should be ok..  Ride info

To join the ride, please email me neilwarland43@gmail.com by 6pm Monday, IMPORTANT: -  please state whether you want to return by train at Guildford or ride on to Esher.

There should be opportunities to take some fine landscape photos.

LATEST: the gpx of the route is in the Ride Info  google drive folder - see link above.
