Report for B Group - 26th October

Steph writes:

After a recce with Davie and Carolyn that found the Rose and Olive on Callow Hill closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday a quick reroute to The Wheatsheaf was planned.  The weather was perfect .  Mild and sunny with a fresh breeze and we managed to avoid a heavy downpour.  Elleray Hall had opened its beautiful little garden but also had its building plans on show as the work of re building is to begin later this year.

Christina's route was straightforward and a perfect mix of towpaths and parks with faster sections of road.  We met up with the As loitering at the top of Tite Hill, mechanical issues apparently, and again as we entered Bishopsgate.  A highlight was a large group of extremely well trained dogs of various breeds who responded quickly to instructions and posed immaculately with complete stillness for their photo. I do think we looked a little disorganised in comparison.

Tea at the Riverhouse Barn Arts centre at Walton was perfect and all were grateful to Christina for hosting a cream tea party.  It was certainly an improvement on lunch - food was good but someone had lost the key to the cellar so no beers were on tap.

Did anyone see Liz's painting at the Arts Centre?

At our pre-ride gathering for elevenses, at Elleray Hall we were greeted with a sing along group. Which made for a cheerful atmosphere.

Tea, Coffee and Cake also helped get us in a happy mood for our pleasant ride ahead.
Our Route was planned by Christina a couple of Months ago, It came to pass that Christina was unable to lead today, So Steph very kindly took over the role of ride organizer.

Our 2nd group out seemed a bit reluctant to leave the jovial atmosphere,   but get going we did, with the guidance of Caroline through Bushy Park. We headed towards Walton and then along the side of the River Thames, up and through Staines, the route then took us into Windsor Great Park. a pleasant break from the road traffic.

(thanks to the man who took our photos)

Lunch was at the Wheatsheaf Virginia Water. The first group waited to be served until we got there. (Very good manners)

Lunch seemed to be middle of the road. Some were disappointed with the small size of their soup portions.

Thanks to the happy group of 12 Cyclists I rode with today today.
Also thanks to the assistant sub-leader Caroline, and back marker Tim.
We were blessed with clement Weather today, given that it is October.
