B Group - 15th March

Addlestone - Donkey Town - Walton

It is not surprising to see so many at elevenses when the weather forecast is so good - I counted twenty five 'B's as we were leaving but one or two less at lunch. Not one of the twenty five, BUT, Liz Bernard walked 8.5 miles to come and say hello to us - well done Liz - very nice to see you.

Before going any further I must say what a pleasure it was to have two first time ladies with us, Christina Berkley and Karen Jones. Be great to see you both again :) Thank you Tim for bringing them to elevenses and Steph for getting them home in the afternoon.

We left Addlestone via Green Lane, Bittams Lane then up through Homewood Park to Stonehills. Gracious Pond took us to Burrowhill. Sorry to say that John S had a little trouble with his bike in this area so decided to give up on the ride. Valley End led us to Rye Grove then after a few wiggles we crossed the A322 into Brentmoor Road to the Hare and Hounds Pub, Donkey Town.

Our bikes went into the back garden with gate duly shut for the pub owners have two very playful large dogs! We all opted to eat in the garden; one or two had to wait a little longer than others for their meals but it was no problem for we had plenty of time....in the sun, and the food is good!

Our afternoon ride was straight forward - Fenns Lane, Beldam Bridge Road to Castle Grove. Carthouse Lane, over the roundabout into Horsell High Street, along Brewery Road to join the Basingstoke canal, leaving it at Scotland Bridge Road.

Our afternoon tea stop was at Gino's, Walton Bridge. Many of the group know the route to Walton Bridge from Addlestone, via Weybridge, along Walton Lane to said cafe so when we were split by the level crossing in Addlestone I was able to continue to tea with out concern.

Gill and I had swapped because she had a very special invitation from her sister -  Gill will be leading 5th April from Cobham. I do hope the weather will be as kind to her.

My thanks to all helpers - back markers, corner markers also Vic and Irene who offered to lead so that we could ride as two smaller groups.  Thank you Tim for maps and photos etc. Our rides would not be so enjoyable if we did not have our volunteers :) :)

A great day, thank you all for joining me.....cheers, Pam :) :)
