Tony and Grant head for Guildford

On yet another fine day, Tuesday, Grant and I were off to Guildford. The route took us through Effingham and Chilworth. On the way through Shalford Park we noticed that the WCs were open! Passing the footbridge at Millbrook we found that the river bed was still dry, this part of the river is still dammed for the works to be completed to the tumbling weir.

Guildford high street was strangely quiet, but plenty of take-always were open so we stopped for lunch in the castle grounds.

Our afternoon route took us on part of the N223 back to Cobham en route through Stoke Park, where the toilets are now open.

We stopped for a take-away drink in Cobham; it was nice to see families enjoying the river here. On the way home we cycled through West Park estate for a change, it is worth seeing.

Thanks to Grant for his Company. Let’s hope it won’t be long before we can resume cycling in larger groups (Grant must be fed up with me alone!)

Check out Grant's letter in the June Cycle (p32). Thanks Grant for keeping the SouWesters in the public eye.
