Easy Riders report for 21st July

Fourteen easy riders out today for a cycle round familiar local routes; a bit gentler paced than usual in the glorious summer heat.

From North Cheam Liz lead a subgroup via the cattle grid through to Auriol Park, while Lynda took the rest of us the more direct route to coffee, through Ewell.

We were warmly welcomed back at the King's Centre in Chessington (despite Helen forgetting to make an advance booking!) and enjoyed our coffee on the sunny terrace.

Our route to lunch took us through Claygate, Hinchley Wood and Thames Ditton. Liz's group were quite well ahead, but she sustained a puncture outside Hampton Court station and there were problems getting the wheel back on, so she had to wait for rescue.

Maureen and Pete peeled off at the Barge Walk; and somehow we lost Colin on the way through Kingston!

So there were only ten of us enjoying lunch in the Wych Elm's cool and shady garden. We loitered long, reluctantly leaving at about 2.30, with most of the group heading for home. Four of us - Frank, Anne, Caroline and me - cycled on to Richmond Park. The ladies stopped for further relaxation and refreshment under a shady tree at Pen Ponds, then headed home along the lovely A3...

Anne peeled off at Raynes Park. Caroline and I made our way back to Worcester Park, and enjoyed a quick cuppa and some ice cream in my garden before she made her way home.

Many thanks all for a most enjoyable and easy day out.

Frank is leading us next week;  coffee meetup at Walton bridge, North Cheam 9.30 as usual. Please contact Helen by Monday evening if you would like to join us. toveyhelen@btinternet.com
