Invitation to a B Group ride on 28th July

As we are still not able to meet in the Christian Centre in Dorking we will meet at Rykas, near the foot of the Box Hill climb.

Our morning route will be a hilly one; after coasting into Dorking we will climb up through the leafy suburb of Cotmandene to avoid the one-way system and join the much loved Coldharbour Lane for our main challenge of the day, regrouping in Coldharbour, if not before. Then for several miles we will ride the roller coaster undulations around Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill before plumetting down towards Ewhurst and Walliswood. That part of the ride follows Christina's memorable afternoon route in May but in the opposite direction.

Lunch will be at the Gatton Manor Golf Club and Hotel, not very far beyond the Scarlett Arms on our ride.

We will dine indoors in a large well ventilated room overlooking the golf course. The menu will be similar to this one:

After lunch we will put our helmets on and trundle around the edge of the golf course and look for the way out towards Ockham and beyond. The afternoon ride will be undulating rather than hilly and follow one of our well-worn routes back to Denbies for Tea.

17 miles to Lunch (approximately 2hrs 15 mins), and a further 16 to Denbies.

This is the route and you can see that most of the hard work will be over and done with in the first eight miles or so:

[As an experiment, this is the same route in Komoot:

It may work for you if you use Komoot.]

I will be away for most of Sunday through to Tuesday morning so please notify me by email of your intention to join us as soon as you can. Please also notify me if you would like to ride to lunch by an easier route on a DIY navigation basis for which I could suggest a route.

Thanks

Tim
