I am planning a ride to the city of dreaming spires in a few weeks. The route aims to visit unfamiliar parts so we'll begin by heading north to the sunny uplands of Iver Heath and then west. Through Burnham Beeches to New and Interesting lands, with exotic places like Watlington, Fingest and Christmas Common. (continuing the Christmas anticipation started by Keith last week. only 196 sleeps to go!!!).
The route is almost all downhill, and of such loveliness that you will hardly notice what few uphills there are. About 60 miles from Walton, with lunch at 27 miles and tea at 45. We should arrive in Oxford by around 6.30.
Options on arrival at Oxford include a very short sightseeing tour, a visit to a number of wonderful pubs, catching the train home (via Reading), or staying overnight.
