Invitation to A group ride 11 August

Exciting opportunities exist for an adventure into Kent next Wednesday!

New roads and lanes to travel and beautiful villages to see. In addition, you'll have the chance to choose whether you'd like to push up your mileage to something similar to that you'd achieve on the annual ride to Shoreham, tempting to some I hope as it is summer after all and the forecast for next Wednesday, at the time of writing, is good (not too hot nor is it rainy). Or you can opt to do a very worthwhile shorter route which will still take you through lovely lanes and villages.

The longest option from Caterham to Brockham is 68 miles and 3,392ft or, if more convenient for those wanting the longer ride, we could end it at Banstead instead which would be 63 miles and 3,697ft. In view of the longer distance, afternoon tea and cake options can be fluid as we pass more than one potential stop on the way to Banstead.

The shorter option is 54 miles and 2,952ft from Caterham to Banstead.

As there's slightly more organisation required could you please email me by Sunday evening stating whether you'd like to join the longer or the shorter ride. If longer, please also let me know your preferred final destination (Brockham, slightly longer, or Banstead 5 miles shorter but one extra hill but the advantage of more places to re-fuel in Banstead if we run late). I'll go with the majority opinion for the end point.

It's worth mentioning that as the rides are slightly longer and hillier than usual the pace will be slightly slower to accommodate this. Also, the start time will be on the early side, not yet decided but maybe around 9.30 from Caterham, certainly not later than 10.
