Easy Riders Jaunt to Teddington Lock, 19th May (Chapter 2)

As usual on a rainy morning there was a flurry of apologies from our fair weather friends at North Cheam😊. No matter, a couple of unexpected extras turned up and we were eight setting out for Walton, lead by Lynda via Tolworth. Rain had stopped by this time.  It was good to find Ray, Ed, Don and Bernard at Walton, and to say Hi to Peter Tiller and Terry, who had just come for coffee.

It has to be said, the best laid cycle route is only as good as the subgroup leader's capacity to read the instructions... It was me this morning and alas, we went astray early.  I missed  Ray's pretty way through Sunbury because I'd folded over the instructions, and rode us past the right turn into Halliford😕. So we continued along the dual carriageway, busy traffic all the way to the end. At this point Frank knew where we were and took over so we turned right and ended up at the Sunbury roundabout. A few moments' unpleasantness and thank goodness, we were able to take a right turn and be back in suburban peace and greenery making our way through to Hampton village...and across Bushy Park.  And despite a little detour because we were early, we were the first group to arrive for lunch at Tide End Cottage by Teddington Lock!

Much enjoyment of our first indoors pub lunch - a great choice, Ray, food and service very good. No tea today, all our group headed home in diverse directions around 2.45.
