I rode past the former Douglas Haig pub in Effingham this morning - it has been going through a long refurbishment to reopen at a pub/"cycling hub" , whatever the latter means.
The notice outside said they were opening on March 23rd from 8am. It will be interesting to see what they offer compared to the Vineries.

Thanks for this update Brian. There may be enough time to check-out The Queen Stage before the elevenses planned for Effingham Vineries on 30th March - a new venue could solve the problem of long queues we often experience at the Vineries.
Definitely worth a try but it looks very plush from the pictures and I suspect one difference from the Vineries may well be the prices!
