Support for Ukraine

At our Annual Lunch yesterday Chairman Dave Vine raised the topic which has been in all our minds, the plight of the people of Ukraine during Putin's military assault. Madeleine spoke to support his expressions of empathy for all whose lives are now in a state of upheaval and mentioned a good friend of hers who is doing something practical to support them:

As Dave Vine mentioned at lunch yesterday and Ged mentioned in his note on Ukraine in this blog, many of us are horror struck and wondering what we can do it help those suddenly under attack and in fear for their homes, family and country.

If you would like to make a small difference in this vast situation, you might want to consider supporting the work of my dear friend Dale Perry.

Dale is an American but has a company in Kiev - I've even been there to do done some work for him! When the invasion started last week, he flew from his home in America to try to get his workers out of Kiev and into safety. Finding he could do nothing much to help them escape, he turned his hands (and pockets) to filling the gaps that his Ukrainian colleagues were highlighting. To that end, in the last two days, Dale has mobilised 7 lorries and on Tuesday managed to get over $500,000's worth of food, medical supplies, nappies, camping equipment over the border from Poland into Ukraine. There it has been picked up by Ukrainians going back to fight who will distribute it where best needed,

Dale had hoped to be supported by humanitarian NGO's - but they are not allowed to be seen as partisan, so will not be going into Ukraine any time soon. So Dale's lorries have turned around and are headed back to Poland for more supplies. But he will need more funds to fill up those trucks again...

If you would like to make a contribution to filling those lorries, please use the link below. I can guarantee that every penny will be used for direct support.
