B Group - 14th October

Seventeen of us met at Ryka’s café at the foot of Box Hill in very pleasant autumn weather. We set off in three groups with sub leaders Steph and Tim G – thank you very much to both of you for that great support and service.

Ready to go

We started off mostly off road with fantastic views of the scarp slope of the North Downs to make our way towards Abinger Common and then up probably the easiest route to ascend Leith Hill.

After passing through several quiet Surrey villages we arrived at Henfold Lakes for our lunch. This was a bit experimental in that we have often been to this venue for our morning meet but as far as I know we have never used it for a large number for lunch.

Team Steph
Unfortunately, it rained in the afternoon as we made our way back towards Leatherhead, but that did not spoil the fabulous day out. Thank you to all those who joined in on the day and may I also take this opportunity of thanking our committee in these unusual times and all those who lead or sub lead the B rides. I think many of us find that Wednesdays are an example of an uplifting part of the week and let us hope that we can continue to meet in this way.

John - thank you for your remarks about the committee. It really is a big team effort, with all Wayfarers working together to keep the show on the road!
