Good morning Dave thanks for giving it a go, would not attempt it myself but I'm sure someone would be silly enough to do it, seriously though it was a good start to a day when I could not get out to far for different reasons for me it certainly tested the legs and for the return route I did miss out a couple of hills, obviously not as fit as you. I hope to do the route in the week as it keeps me close to home. Stay safe Geoff G
Living not far from the foothills of Ridgway I’m tempted to try this novelty ride. I’ll also try out the Morley Park Cycle Path - a route now realised after being included in the Planning Brief for the Hospital site - (memories of giving evidence at the Public Local Inquiry whilst a Planner at Merton getting this through!).
A word of caution. The route I plotted takes you up Sunnyside Passage, a nice climb but on a narrow path where you might meet pedestrians. It's the first through route up the Wimbledon Hill to the east of Wimbledon Hill Rd. If you want to avoid it you can just ride up the main Wimbledon Hill Rd instead. It will be the quietest ever.
Hello, Christine has just reminded me that sometimes I would ride the route to give some distance by starting up Wimbledon Hill go all the way to Copse Hill and down turn left into Coombe Lane, go either all the way along Worple Road and take the next climb Malcolm Road then again go all the way to the end of Copse Hill to then go to the next road up Ridgeway Place then repeat taking in the climbs that way OR once up Wimbledon Hill go all the way to Copse Hill/Coombe Lane and start the climbs from the Raynes Park end going up Durham Road and turn left at the top to start the round ending all the climbs at the top of Wimbledon Hill. Hope that makes sense, so you have a ride between climbs.
Just checked my latest idea on Strava and it comes to approx. 31 miles by starting at Wimbledon Hill and doing the long way round giving yourself a ride between hills. Geoff G

A training ride I used to do when short of time was:
Up the Downs (10%)
Left on the Ridegeway
Along and down Copse Hill (5%)
Swing round at Baraham Rd turn to the Rugby Club
Return
=3 miles
Repeat 5 times = 15 miles + out and back 5 miles. = 20 miles
