HEADS UP for A group ride from Cobham to Tolworth, 4 March (annual lunch)

If you join the A group for this short ride, there are quite a few off-road segments and I can promise you two things:

1) your bike will need a good clean afterwards (and so will you if you don't have mudguards)
2) there will be some segments that few (if any) of you have done before

From Cobham we will head through Downside, across Bookham Common and over the river Mole, then skirt Leatherhead, Ashtead and Epsom before following the Hogsmill river towards Tolworth. It's a bit of a cyclo-cross adventure in some places but 3 of us did it on road bikes with slick tyres on Sunday - after a lot of rain the day before - and we only got stuck once!

For those who don't fancy this, you could go with one of the other groups (who I'm sure will take a more sensible route) or you could make your own way to the Sorrento restaurant in Tolworth.

It's just 14 miles and 350ft ascent between Cobham and Tolworth, we are planning to arrive by about 12.30 and there is NO ride planned after lunch.

Thanks for HU as I am hoping to get some work done on my bike Thursday I hope to get it into the workshop Wednesday so will not take advantage of the mud and grime on offer, see you in Tolworth. Are you bringing a change of clothing or riding in plastic bags?

Ha! Don’t worry mudguards and overshoes are all you need!

What about face masks? Some arriving at Sorrento after a ride at a spanking pace may be perspiring heavily and showing signs of high temperature. Will quarantine be necessary?
